Completed Series FAQ
How will this distribution work?
This is for creators who have completed series or mostly completed series. If you only have a pilot or series with a few episodes made, please see this Pilot Submission FAQ.
The first step is to submit information about your series here. Make sure to fill out all of the required sections.
If we agree that the show is a good fit, we will contact you to discuss the distribution further.
If selected, we will distribute your series on our site for at least six months. You will receive a percentage of Cideshow’s show profits.
How much money will I receive?
We’re doing a fair version of revenue sharing, with unlimited earning potential. If we distribute your show on our site, you get a percentage equivalent to how many viewers watch your series. This percentage is specifically from Cideshow Show Profits, which is estimated to be roughly half of the total Cideshow Total Profits.*
*Note: this is not guaranteed. This is both dependent on Cideshow making a profit and on your show receiving views.
What kind of ideas are you looking for?
We prefer full length shows. By full length we mean 10-50 minutes per episode and at least 5 episodes per season (ideally at least 10 episodes total).
We’re looking for show that are trying different things. Some qualities that we love: imaginative, innovative, fun, edgy, experimental, interactive.
Oh, and of course, it should be your idea, and you should have full rights to it. Nobody likes lawsuits.
Will Cideshow own my show?
Absolutely not. You will still retain full ownership over your series. We will only have the right to distribute it.
If your series is incomplete, however, we can offer you the option of helping you fund additional episodes. Please see information on that below.
Does my series have to be exclusive to Cideshow?
Nope. You can have this distributed in different ways or on different platforms, as long as you don’t have an exclusivity agreement with any other network/ service.
We only ask that you do not have it available on any free video platforms (like Youtube, Vimeo, etc). If your show is free and easy to find there, it takes away motivation for an audience to come to us.
Wait. What’s this about you funding additional episode
If your series is incomplete, and you want to make more episodes, we can put up the show for voting. If selected, we will fund additional episodes of the series, and make it an official Cideshow Series.
If you choose to do this and it’s officially voted in, we will ask for a 10% ownership of the show in order to fund additional episodes. You will still have complete freedom, though, to try to sell your show elsewhere, especially since you’ll have additional episodes/ a bigger fanbase.
So if you win, you would be a Candivan volunteer showrunner at the beginning. You’ll have a deferred payment, conditional on us being profitable. But if we get showrunners like you who work hard and deliver amazing scripts, the odds of that happening is so much higher.
If I choose to do this option, how would the voting work?
The voting is based on how much money additional episodes would need, and how many episodes you’d like to make.
Cideshow viewers will have a currency they can use to vote for their favorite shows. We adjust the amount of votes your show would need based upon the criteria above.
Those additional episodes will then be up for more voting. This process continues until your series is complete, you sell your show elsewhere or retire it, or it doesn’t receive enough votes.
Do I have to own the show in order to submit it?
Yes, or you have to get permission. We’re going to be very suspicious if you try pitching Game of Thrones to us.
I’m kind of a big deal. Can I submit multiple series?
Yes, for sure, superstar!
When does the site launch?
It will be up and running by the beginning of May.
When is the deadline to submit?
We need all submissions in by Friday, April 17th, so we have enough time to work everything out and get them onto the site.
